You are reading material prepared during the development of the pirate life simulation game Corsairs Legacy by Ukrainian Mauris studio with the aim of popularizing the marine theme in general and pirate games in particular. You can follow the project news on our website, YouTube channel, and Telegram.
Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships is one of the best parts of the cult franchise Sea Dogs (Age of Pirates). If you are looking for a game that can give you not only battles of sailing ships, adventures in the Caribbean archipelago, sea robbery, and the spirit of pirate adventure, but also please you with the depth of its mechanics, as well as high-quality quests and dialogues, Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships is for you.
Age of Pirates City of Abandoned Ships was developed by the Seaward team based on Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales (Sea Dogs 3), completed in 2009. Previously, the project was called Corsairs: Return of the Legend, but after abundant innovations in the latest versions, it was renamed (or released under the guise of a new project — whichever wording is more convenient for you).
Previously, Akella was the publisher of the Sea Dogs, but today it is bankrupt. Even among the developers of the City of Abandoned Ships, the question of who gets the bulk of the profits from their sales remains unclear.
The final release of Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships by Seaward is 1.2.12. It is the basis of most of the add-ons developed by fans, such as Cursed by Fate, A Pirate's Story, or Mysteries of Distant Seas 2.
Also, for some time after the release, fan-made patches from BlackMark Studio came out for the Age of Pirates 2 City of Abandoned Ships, which were very widespread in the Sea Dogs community. The final version among Sea Dogs patches of City of Abandoned Ships is 1.3.2 AT.
Of course, you can buy Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships in the most popular Steam online store on the game page, even if the project itself was added there relatively recently.
However, there is one moment here at once: the unstable operation of the City of Abandoned Ships version of the game, which is also noted by the players in the reviews.
At the same time, one of the most stable versions of City of Abandoned Ships (namely 1.2.12) is offered by the GOG store, the game page at this link. It is also easy to patch 1.3.2 AT if you are interested in it.
Patches for the Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships from BlackMark Studio are in the public domain and, of course, free. From this link, you can easily download the Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships 1.3.2 AT patch.
Among the advantages of the patches, Sea Dogs players note new content and a few, but high-quality improvements to the old one. Among the minuses, they mention increased complexity, expressed not only in the amount of incoming and outgoing damage but also in new restrictions, for example, the mandatory presence of two ammunition for firing pistols or the need to have a small class ship for trading with smugglers.
It is impossible not to note the abundance of custom mods for the Age of Pirates 2 City of Abandoned Ships. One of the richest in their number: pirates-life.ru.
