This is one of the largest updates in recent times. We have reworked key systems that directly affect sea travel, the combat system, controls, and overall game stability. Below you will find a detailed description of all changes, grouped by the main areas of the game.
Shipyards, ships, and the sea
- The shipyard in Bridgetown has been updated — a full ship customization window has been added, with the ability to repair, buy, sell, and change equipment.

- Shipwright buildings have been added in the smuggler settlements on Trinidad, Tobago, and Grenada — you can now repair and customize ships there.

- The ship cargo hold window has been reworked. It now displays officer portraits, their current status, and offers convenient navigation between your ships.

- The maximum number of ships in a squadron has been increased to 4.
- The maximum number of officers has been reduced to 3.
- Captain’s Stash has appeared in smuggler settlements on four islands — special buildings that provide access to the player’s personal belongings. You can now use your personal chests not only in the captain’s cabin, but also directly on the islands.

Global map and sea mechanics - Floating cargo has appeared on the global map, which you can pick up.

- Abandoned ships have been added, which can be captured without boarding.
- A rats-on-board event has been added — from time to time they spoil part of your cargo.
- Sail condition now directly affects a ship’s speed on the global map. To reach maximum speed, sails must be fully intact.
- We received feedback that, in some players’ experience, larger ships sometimes do not appear in the game. At the moment, player progress is used as an indicator to determine which ships can spawn on the global map. The game always makes ships available that are slightly stronger than the most powerful ship captured by the player. The current ship class progression in the game is:
cutter > schooner > sloop > snauw > pinnace > brigantine > brig > ship of the line.
Each ship class has three subtypes: merchant > regular > military.
For example, if you sail a regular snauw, military snauws are guaranteed to appear on the global map.
In future updates, we plan to add special global-map events where all ship types will be available regardless of player progress.
Trade and economy - The trading system now works as a single complete system.
- Trading takes place in a full separate window.

- The player independently decides which goods to buy and sell to load onto their ship.
NPC life, music, and atmosphere - 65 new NPC animations have been added in settlements.

- The NPC movement system has been reworked — they now move more naturally and interact with the environment more correctly.
- All NPCs now have ragdoll physics after death and fully interact with physical objects.

- New soundtracks have been added: tavern, a street musician with a ukulele, music for Perudo, and themes for Indian settlements.

- A dynamic background music switching system has been added. The new tavern soundtrack now plays both in the indoor Bridgetown tavern and in the four outdoor taverns on the other islands.

- Street musicians have been added — you can now hear live ukulele performances in settlements.

- Dynamic lighting has been added for land locations on Carriacou, Tobago, Trinidad, and Grenada.
Combat and boarding - The combat system has been significantly reworked.
- Boardings have become faster, more dynamic, and more dangerous — both for enemies and for the player.
- A boarding difficulty indicator has been added. Boarding difficulty is influenced by the crew size ratio between your ship and the enemy ship, as well as the ship class and type ratio.

- Damage dealt on both sides has been increased so fights do not drag on.
- A new boarding scene has been added, improving pacing and the overall feel of boarding actions.

- Animations and interaction during combat have been improved.
- For weapons with minimal quality and durability, damage dealt is now reduced.
Controls, controllers, and photo mode - The ability to change the control layout and remap keys has been added.

- Gamepad support and support for various controller types have been improved.
- After this update, we plan to apply for full Steam Deck compatibility.
- The option to hide the UI for taking screenshots has been restored. If the UI was hidden by accident, a hint now appears explaining how to enable it again.

Full save system overhaul - The save system has been completely reworked. Each save now contains additional information about the hero’s status, officers, and the player’s fleet.

- A profile system has been added — you can now have multiple separate profiles for different play sessions.
- Within a single profile, there is a limit of 50 saves.
- The ability to leave your own comments for each save has been added.

- Saves now take up significantly less disk space and work faster.
Other changes and fixes - A window has been added that shows receiving and losing quest items.

- Placeholders for character items and a weapon condition bar have been added to the inventory.

- Issues with Korean and Japanese font rendering have been fixed.
- New achievements have been added:
- for retrieving floating cargo from sunken ships;
- for capturing a brigantine;
- for capturing a ship of the line;
- for luring an enemy ship under the fire of a friendly fort;
- for firing at a friendly ship;
- three achievements for different endings of the quest about the execution of pirates. - Changes have been made to some in-game documents, chest codes, and riddles. Incorrect information that could be misleading has been fixed.
- Over 40 bugs and crashes have been fixed based on your reports via the in-game feedback form.
Important
We received messages from players whose game would freeze while looting NPCs in the captain’s cabin after 20+ hours of gameplay. We have introduced fixes that should resolve this issue. If you experienced such a freeze, please:
- launch the game and check whether everything now works correctly;
- send us the result via the in-game feedback form.
Also, after this update, your feedback is especially important to us regarding the new save system, combat and boarding, gamepad and controller performance, NPC movement, and sea mechanics.
Please leave it via the in-game form.
Thank you to everyone who helps develop Corsairs Legacy!
