The next material was prepared during the development of the pirate life simulation game Corsairs Legacy by Ukrainian Mauris studio with the aim of popularizing the marine theme in general and pirate games in particular.
After the Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships by the franchise fans Seaward, who, following the release of the add-on Corsairs: Return of the Legend to Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales, fully collaborated with the publisher Akella, it was only a matter of time before the Sea Dogs game series continued. Unfortunately, due to the crisis in 2008, the Sea Dogs 4 project was frozen after a year of development.
Akella continued to cooperate with another fan community, BlackMark Studio, who created the Sea Dogs: To Each His Own addon, and further arranged the official release of this particular game. Seaward didn't work on the franchise anymore.
The game itself, Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, received a lot of feedback: mostly positive from the players who came from the Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, but there were many mixed and negative ones. However, this game is the official continuation of the series.
Much later, in 2018, Black Sun Game Publishing announced the creation of a new project for the legendary franchise — Sea Dogs 4: Black Spot. At first, apart from the concept art, nothing specific was provided to the players, but then a teaser appeared.
It seemed that the public would soon see the much-anticipated Sea Dogs 4, even though under a different heading. However, the process never reached the main development stage of Sea Dogs: Black Spot.
Despite the current extremely unfavorable situation around the Sea Dogs franchise, our team remembers what heights Seaward achieved in Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, and wants to continue their work. Both as fans of the franchise, who have spent a scarcely measurable amount of time in the games of the series, especially in the City of Abandoned Ships, and as fans of the pirate theme and the spirit of adventurism that it gives.
At the moment, we are developing a pirate life simulation game Corsairs Legacy with the goal of not only giving new life to the legendary Sea Dogs series that we love so much but also contributing to the popularization of the marine theme in general and pirate-themed games in particular.
You can learn more about our project, as well as add it to your wishlist, on the game page on Steam.
