Sea Dogs: To Each His Own map — Portobello and Panama colonies
For many players of Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, Portobello becomes the first Spanish colony where, among other things, they can fully experience how stealth works in this game and form a clear opinion about it.
Portobello and Panama are located on the mainland in the region known as Western New Granada.
At the same time, the city — along with the nearby Spanish colony of Panama — also appears in several side quests in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own. For example, “Grand Albalante” (if we talk about the local plantation) and “The Value of Silence” (both quests are part of the “The Last Lesson” DLC).
The Portobello shipyard is one of the few in the Caribbean in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own where you can upgrade your ship.
However, it is not unique in terms of available upgrades: just like in Havana, here you can increase deadweight (for lignum vitae) and raise the maximum number of cannons (for resins). Keep in mind that payment is in doubloons.
Portobello has the traditional four merchant types typical for Spanish colonies, while neighboring Panama has all five. Apparently, for some reason, the native trader does not particularly favor this nation.
Although Panama is briefly involved in one of the quests from the “The Last Lesson” DLC, its role in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own is barely noticeable. Still, long-time fans of the series may nostalgically recall a well-known quest in Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, where the player had to take part in an assault.
Since it is impossible to dock in Panama, naval trade there is not available. So we will limit ourselves to a table of non-standard prices in Porto Bello.
And there is something worth highlighting here. First of all, Portobello offers two scarce goods: mahogany and ebony. At the same time, at “green” prices you can buy leather, vanilla, and copra, which are scarce in some other cities in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, as well as gold and silver.

The price table is relevant for Sea Dogs: To Each His Own version 1.7.3.
It is worth noting that in Western New Granada you can find as many as seven manga rosa plants — this is the second-best region for manga rosa, right after the Mosquito Coast.
The first manga rosa is located in the area with the fork leading to Portobello and Panama (it is very easy to miss, since many players pass through this location during one of the early quests, “Caribbean Customs,” without noticing the plant).
The second manga rosa can be found in San Miguel Bay, near Panama. To get the remaining five manga rosa plants, you will need to travel to San Juan del Norte:
- After leaving the beach grotto, turn right — you will find a manga rosa there;
- At the entrance to the cave closest to San Juan del Norte, you will see a manga rosa;
- In the next cave, near a small pond, a manga rosa grows;
- In the area you reach after climbing out of the cave via a rope, you will find a manga rosa;
- In Coronado Bay, a manga rosa is hidden behind a tree.
Please note that manga rosa in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own can be collected only during your first visit to a location — once you leave the area, the plant disappears permanently.
