Sea Dogs: To Each His Own — Tortuga Island map

Tortuga Island is famously popular thanks to countless pirate-themed books, films, and games. There is only one town here (also called Tortuga), but in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, its entire design was reworked compared to Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships. For series fans, Tortuga in TEHO genuinely feels fresh.

As soon as you arrive at the French island of Tortuga, you’ll immediately notice a huge flotilla guarding the fortifications. This becomes an important theme in the Sea Dogs: To Each His Own story quests tied to the pirate saga questline.

By the way, it’s in that questline — specifically the “Turtle Soup” quest — that you can obtain one of the Persian blades stolen from Fadey: Khandu. It is located in the governor’s chest.

If we set aside story quests like “Turtle Soup” (where you’ll take part in a rooftop chase across the city), it’s also worth mentioning the “The Last Lesson” DLC.

If you own it and want to play all the new quests, you must arrive on Tortuga between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and Charles’ rank must be no lower than 4 and no higher than 12. If those conditions are met, you’ll gain access to the quest “Almost Like Home”.

On the streets, you’ll find vendors of nearly every type, except the native trader. Tortuga is also one of the few Caribbean towns in Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, where you can find a brothel.
